James "Jimmy Mill" Mielcarek

Lorain- James "Jimmy Mill" Mielcarek, 51, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at home from complications of diabetes.

Jimmy was born on December 23, 1961 in Lorain, OH to his loving parents, Gerald W. and Marguerite E. (nee: Damm) Mielcarek and he was a lifelong resident of Lorain.

He graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1980 and Pharmacy Tech School during his time in the U.S. Navy. Jimmy enlisted in the United States Navy in 1981. He was a Battlefield Corpsman with the United States Marine Corps, Third Fleet in Okinawa. He was honorably discharged in 1987, returned home, and joined the Lorain Fire Department, retiring in 1998. He enjoyed entertaining others as a stand up comic in the Cleveland area as Jimmy Mill. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Church in Lorain and he was active in Alcoholics Anonymous.

He is survived by his mother, Marguerite Mielcarek of Lorain: sister, Deborah Parker (Hayward Garcia) of Vermilion: brothers, Gerald (Vera) Mielcarek Jr. of Lorain, Michael Mielcarek of Lorain and Alfred Mielcarek of Avon: nieces, Cher Parker, Ashley and Erica Mielcarek and Cali Hughes: nephews, Liam, Trenton and Tyler Mielcarek: cousins, William Damm, Matt and Jeff Fenn: and lifelong friend, Joanie Parker.  

He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald W. Mielcarek Sr in 1986: grandparents, Marguerite and Alfred Damm; and Walter and Lucille Mielcarek. 

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 1-8 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church, 309 W 7th St, Lorain, Fr. Daniel O. Divis, Pastor, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where military honors will be performed by the Disabled American Veterans.
