Mr. Richard J. O'Connor


Sheffield Village-  Richard "Chick" O'Connor, 92, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at New Life Hospice Center at St. Joseph surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born December 1, 1920 in Boston, MA, to his loving parents, Patrick J. and Mary M. (nee: Fox) O'Connor. Richard served in WWII in the U.S. Navy as a machinist mate 2nd Class.  He was employed at B.F. Goodrich Chemical as a chemical operator for 32 years.  Richard was a member of St. Teresa of Avila and a life member of Amvets and VFW.  He enjoyed camping, gardening and was a fan of boxing and football.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Nancy L. (Woodyard), sons: Timothy P. (Rebecca) of Sheffield Village, Terence R. (Earlene) of Lorain, Grandson: Patrick J. of Lorain and sister, Patricia A. Pitzer of Grafton, WV.

He was preceded in death by his parents: brothers, Edward and Robert O'Connor; and sister, Marie Hoche.

The family will receive friends at Reidy Scanlan Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 4-7PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053.  Online condolences may be sent using www.rsgfuneralhome.com.
