Mr. Charles Arroyo

Lorain- Charles Arroyo, 84, passed away on Sunday, October 09, 2011 at New Life Hospice of St. Joseph in Lorain, OH.

 He was born in Lorain, OH on October 13, 1926 to his loving parents, Jesse and Carmen (nee: Salas) Arroyo.

 Charles enlisted into the U.S. Navy in 1945, during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He returned home to finish his last year of high school and graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1947 B. Following high school, he was accepted into the Ohio State University, where he majored in Business. He returned to Lorain, OH and was married on November 17, 1951 to Joan (nee: Letizia).

Charles was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua of Lorain, OH, the Knights of St. Johns, the VFW in Lorain, OH and the Holy Name Mens Club where he was named "Man of the Year" in 2003. He retired from BF Goodrich after 29 years and enjoyed spending his time woodworking and his summer home on Kelleys Island. He was a very compassionate, wonderful man.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years of marriage, Joan Arroyo of Lorain, OH; sons, David Arroyo of Lorain, OH, Dean (Sharon) Arroyo of Lorain, OH; and Dan (Laurie) Arroyo of Elyria, OH; brothers, Ed (DeeDee) and Joe Arroyo; sisters, Mary (Harvey) Beck and Theresa Roberts; grandchildren, Amy, Nathan, Samantha, Matt, Kyle and Abbie Arroyo; and nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Carmen Arroyo; brothers, Jesse Jr. and Phillip Arroyo; and sister, Amelia.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH (440) 244-1961 on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from 4-8 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at St. Anthony of Padua, 1305 East Erie Avenue, Lorain, OH, Fr. Richard E. Hudak, Pastor, officiating. Christian Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, OH where military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy.
